We are always talking to our users and trying to understand their problems so that we can solve them. One of the feedbacks that we received was the ability to create landing pages and give a better presentation of the AMP pages, so we tried solving that in 0.9.80 version of the plugin.
Today, I am happy to announce the beta version of 0.9.80 which is available for you to download from the below link and experience the changes. These changes will be officially released as an update after a week of testing and feedback gathering.
First, let’s find out what’s new in this version and then we will head over to the download section.
1. Swift Theme: The New default theme based on AMP Theme Framework
Last year we created AMP Theme Framework which makes it very easy for you to create a theme on top of AMP. It was a very successful release and hundereds of custom tailored AMP sites have seen the daylight.
We decided to use this framework for our core themes and up our design game at the same time, so that’s when we decided to create a new theme, calling it ‘Swift’ AMP theme.
Swift is a mobile-first theme for AMP, which looks great on the desktop but it’s actually designed for the mobile visitors, giving them a pleasurable user experience to read and navigate through the content. Along with that, we decided to include several new options like better image cropping, unlimited google fonts library, header options and much more.
2. Pre-Built AMP Layouts
In this version, we have added a new feature called ‘AMP Layouts’ which gives you pre-built layouts for you to use easily with one click.
Business website on AMP is now easier than ever! Let’s have a look at these demos:
1. Landing Page (Demo)
This pre-built is a multi purpose layout which can be used for 100 different use cases. Suitable for homepage and the other main pages.
2. Features Page (Demo)
This layout is better if you would like to present the features of your business or product. There’s a tons of option that you can choose from.
3. Pricing Page (Demo)
This page is perfect for displaying pricing of the product. If you are selling something online, then this is a perfect for you. You can add many pricing options and customize it to your needs.
3. AMP Page Builder re-engineered in Vue.js
You might remember we released a AMP Page Builder as a beta few months ago which got great feedback.
Initially it was created in jQuery but we weren’t happy with the performance of it so we decided to make in into a better technology and aligns with our future goals, we were thinking between Vue & React but after alot of discussion, we decided to go for Vue.js, but since it’s a very new framework, we had some limitations which took time to figure out but we were able to successfully rewrite the whole page builder into Vue.js.
As a user, I’m really delighted to use this page builder and I am sure you will be too. We decided to keep the look as native as possible.
4. New Page Builder Modules
This update includes 14 new modules which are custom tailored from the design perspective.
5. Header Options
We understand the importance of header for a website, so we’ve included 3 header layouts in the Swift theme.
6. 744 Icon & 848 Google Fonts Library
Now you have hundreds of Icons and Fonts to choose from without worrying about the performance.
Icons and Typography are the two core pillars of web design but we didn’t wanted to compromise on the performance so we decided to make the custom tailored solution which allows us to use the high quality opensource 744 icons and 848 Google Fonts without any performance issues.
That took a lot of time to crack but we usually don’t stop until we find a solution 🙂
7. Our Commitment on Design & Flexibility
We believe that we are at a early stage of solving the design problem for you. We are planning to improve the design continuously through our update.
Try 0.9.80 Beta today!
Note: Try this Beta version on your development setup or localhost.
Give your Feedback!
Please give us your feedback in the below comments, we will continuously improve the bugs that you will report and clean them as soon as possible.
As always, You keep giving feedback and we will keep implementing it! 🙂
Signing off for the day, Ahmed Kaludi
I am very grateful to the master who has built the amp … I hope it remains the maximum as it is now. Although not yet know much about amp, but at least I already feel comfortable using amp.
Hey Galau,
I’m glad that you are liking it. Yes, AMP is very interesting technology and it is going to live for few years, so it is better to align with the upcoming technology that will have the impact on the Search results.
If mobile menu (burger menu button) is longer than screen it doesn’t scroll
Hey Andrea,
Thank you for your feedback, but this has been fixed.
Can you please update the plugin to the latest version and let me know your feedback?
Thank you,
MK
while testing swift theme used in PageSpeed Insights shows blank page.
Sift has image size issues when placed in the body of the main content. If I were to control the image size, how would I do that? there is no setting? Do you have a custom css? I have an image with 900px width on a regular, none amp page. But when I view that same image in an amp page it is outside of a responsive container, makes the page, not responsive, slides the content to the right.
What is the custom css to target the main content images (not featured images)?
