Getting Started With AMP

So you just finished installing AMP for WP and now you are wondering what to do?

Then, this is the perfect guide to help you to set up AMP on your Website.

Here are the 9 actionable steps that will take you through the essential settings required for AMP.  It will also help you understand the basics of AMP.

1. Logo

If your website has a logo, if you want to Show your website logo in AMP version of your site, then you can Upload LOGO from here.

1. Go to AMP settings
2. Select General 
3. First Option, you can See Logo option. Choose Logo from your System Library and Click on Upload Logo
4. Don’t forget to Save.

2. AMP on Pages

To Enable AMP on Pages, you have to Turn ON AMP on Pages option from AMP settings dashboard.

1. Go to AMP settings > General Settings > Turn ON AMP on Pages Option.
2. Save Changes.

Note: After doing this, It is recommended to Re-Save permalinks.

3. Static Homepage in AMP

If your Website has a static front page, if you want to show static front page on AMP version of your site, then kindly follow the below given steps.

1. If you want to Enable AMP on your Homepage, Turn ON Homepage Support.
2. By default, AMP shows your website Latest Posts. If you want to Show Static Front Page on your AMP site Homepage, then Click Turn ON to Enable Static Front Page. 
3. Select A Page, which you want to use as Static Front Page on your AMP site.
4. Click Save Changes. 

Note: If you want to Control what you want to show on AMP version of your, you can use Custom AMP Editor. Using Custom AMP Editor, you can create a Static Homepage of your choice.

• Create a New Page > Use Custom AMP Editor.

4. Google Analytics in AMP

If you want to integrate Google Analytics in AMP version of your site, you can do as below.

1. Go to Analytics tab in AMP settings.
2. Enter your Google Analytics ID.

Note: Here you have to enter your Google Analytics ID. you Shouldn’t place Analytics Code. If you place Google Analytics Tracking code, you’ll get AMP Errors in Google Webmasters.

5. Design

In order to improve the Appearance of AMP version of your site, we have Designed Three templates. You can Choose them from the Design Settings.

Go to Desing Settings from AMP settings

1. There are Three templates, by default Choose Any Design from the Drop-down menu.
2. Turn ON Search Option to let your Users search whatever they want from your website.

Note: It is mandatory to install SSL (https://) on your website, in order to search anything on your AMP website.

6. SEO

If you have Yoast SEO installed, if you want to control SEO settings on AMP  version of your site, you can use this section.

You can INDEX / NOINDEX – Archive Subpages, Author Archive Pages, Date Archives, Categories and Tags from here.

7. Menu

It is recommended to create Custom Menu for AMP. From this page, you can create Custom AMP menu. If you don’t want Custom Menu for AMP, you can use default menu.

Note: When you create Custom Menu for AMP, you have to use Custom URL.

For example, www.site.com/about-us/amp is the Custom URL for About Us.

8. Advertisements

If you want to place Ads in AMP version of your Site, you can Use Advertisement Section in AMP settings.

1. AMP settings > Advertisement Turn ON AD #1 to Enable Ads
2. Choose Ad Size
3. In Data AD Client box, Paste your Adsense Publisher account.
4. Data AD Slot can be obtained from Adsense Ad Code.
5. Finally, save changes to enable Google Adsense Ads on your site.

If you want to place custom Ads or Ads of other Networks you can use Advanced AMP Ads Extension.

9. Structured Data

It is recommended to Add Structured Data images.

• Go to AMP settings
• Click on Structured Data
• Upload the logo you want to show in Google Structured Data.
• Upload the Image you want to show as Placeholder Image
• Finally, Click on Save Changes.
