The skill goes like this: say, \u201cAlexa, remember Brian\u2019s birthday is May 11,\u201d and Alexa will respond, in kind, \u201cOkay. I will remember that Brian\u2019s birthday is May 11.\u201d Then, when you need to remember Brian\u2019s birthday (May 11), you say, \u201cAlexa, when is Brian\u2019s birthday,\u201d to which Alexa will respond, \u201cThis is what you told me: Brian\u2019s birthday is May 11.\u201d<\/p>\n

The feature is a bit of catch up for Amazon\u2019s smart assistant \u2014 Google Assistant has had a similar feature for a while now. But it\u2019s a handy one, nonetheless, and beats sending emails to yourself or writing stuff down on scraps of paper you\u2019ll inevitably lose \u2014 both of my own preferred methods.<\/p>\n
Birthdays\/t-shirt sizes are one piece in a big push to make Alexa smarter and more conversation that also includes context carryover, which uses recently asked questions to inform answers on new ones.
